All eight 7-land states are gearing up for the party. Just four weeks until the 14th running of the 7QP, on Saturday May 4th. This year we are looking for more stations to try the digital PSK and RTTY modes - 4 points each! Suggested frequencies for each band and mode are in the rules. Now is the time to make sure your rig and antennas all work. I received an eMail from Dick Frey – K4XU a few minutes ago, about 7QP, and he does a lot of work for 7QP every year, and try’s to get info on everyone’s ideas and plans to be on from the various Oregon Counties. I know Lake County is very Rare to be covered most years, along with a few others. Wow operating a County Line would be a lot of Fun too. Likely to be a Fun time for all as usual. 7QP is one of my favorites, and looking forward to it again this year. As this is normally a low-pressure contest, I don't mind taking a minute saying Hi during a contact. I'm looking forward to seeing some of my CARA friends in the log during this fun contest. Remember, the digital modes of RTTY and PSK31 will be active and worth FOUR POINTS per contact, and, since we will be on a County Line, each contact with W7PRA will be worth EIGHT POINTS! Be sure to look for us when you participate in this fun contest. I will be joining the PEAK Expedition to activate the County Line of Crook and Wheeler Counties in Central Oregon. And if you log on a computer, please submit a copy of your log even if you don’t care to compete for an award. Unfortunately FT8 will not work, the 7QP exchange is not compatible. The Digital modes provide another way to get more new operators with modest stations into the activity on HF.

The stations of the US 7th call area (Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming) become "the pursued", and the rest of the US, Canada, and the world tries to work as many of us, on as many bands/modes as possible, over an 18-hour period commencing at 6:00am Pacific Time (1300 UTC).

Go portable and blow the carbon out of the generator or stay home and try out that new wire antenna. We are trying to get all 17 Nevada counties on the air. There are 259 counties in the 7th call zone available to all. The idea is to work as many 7 stations by the rest of the world, and for those of us in the 7 call area to work as much of the rest of the world as you can.
